End of Life for Atlassian Data Center

Atlassian has announced that the Data Center product line will be discontinued. The first changes take effect as early as March 30, 2026. This means the time has come for your organization to move to the Cloud. On this page you will find all the important information.

Summary

Atlassian has been investing heavily in the subscription-based Atlassian Cloud product line for many years. Significant progress has been made and the vendor sees the Cloud as the “natural future.”

The previously existing on-premise product line Atlassian Data Center will be discontinued in 2029. By then, customers must have completed the migration to the Cloud. We therefore strongly urge you, regardless of whether your organization is already a customer with us or not, to schedule a consultation appointment with us. Dates you should mark in your calendar

  • March 30, 2026

    The sale of new Data Center licenses and Marketplace apps ends for new customers.


  • March 30, 2028

    The last date on which existing customers can purchase new Data Center licenses, Marketplace apps, and license expansions.

  • March 28, 2029

    End of Life for Data Center. All Data Center licenses and associated Marketplace app licenses expire and switch to read-only mode.

    The changes in detail

    Everything you need to know

    From March 30, 2026, customers will no longer be able to purchase new licenses for Data Center products. Anyone who acquires a license by then or already holds one can continue to operate their Atlassian instances (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, and Marketplace apps for Data Center) without issues until March 28, 2029. Atlassian maintenance and support are guaranteed during this period, however no further development of the platform will take place.

    March 30, 2028 is the last date by which existing customers can renew their Data Center licenses. After March 28, 2029, the “End of Life” for Data Center takes effect: all instances will be switched to read-only mode.

    What do End of Sale and End of Support mean?

    End of sale

    From March 30, 2026, no new licenses for Data Center products will be sold by Atlassian. This sales stop also applies to all Marketplace apps.

    Switch to Cloud

    If you have an existing Data Center license, you have until 2029 to switch to the Cloud. Atlassian provides various tools and resources to make the transition as smooth as possible.

    Services until End of Life

    Until March 28, 2029, Atlassian will deliver security updates for Data Center products and ensure the functionality of connectors.

    Read-only mode

    On March 28, 2029, support for Data Center will be completely discontinued. There will be no more product updates. According to Atlassian, the corresponding product instances will no longer be actively usable and will switch to a read-only mode.

    Which products are affected?

    The following products are affected by the End of Life:

    • Jira Software Data Center
    • Jira Service Management Data Center
    • Confluence Data Center
    • Atlassian apps for Data Center
    • Bamboo Data Center
    • Mobile apps for Data Center
    • Crowd Data Center
    • Marketplace apps for the affected Data Center products
    Exception

    Jira Align Data Center is not affected.

    A second exception is Bitbucket Data Center. Atlassian will provide a new license that grants access to both Bitbucket Data Center and Bitbucket Cloud. This allows customers to continue working in the Data Center environment even after End of Life. This new license will be available from mid-2026.
