The Cloud Migration of VR Payment
As a long-standing customer of Jira and Confluence in their Server versions, VR Payment GmbH has successfully migrated to the Atlassian Cloud with the support of Seibert Solutions.
VR Payment, data protection and cloud: a working trio?
Companies have individual needs and diverse requirements for the software systems they use. Before a migration, it must therefore be verified whether these requirements can be met in the cloud at all. For VR Payment, the topic of data protection turned out to be enormously important – which is not surprising, as the payment processor operates with a banking license and must satisfy BaFin requirements.

More than just moving to the cloud
Consulting and structured implementation at VR Payment
Beyond the planning and technical execution of the migration, the project focused on specific consulting areas. Data protection and user training were particularly central aspects.
How the cloud migration went
Consulting and analysis
Together with the customer, Seibert’s experts first evaluated which cloud license with which feature scope is best suited for VR Payment and can most effectively meet the high data protection requirements as a financial services provider. In the second step, the existing instances with their data and usage patterns were analyzed to determine how much time the preparation and execution of the migration would require.
Test migration
A test migration was carried out as part of the cloud trial, which provided insight into what options the migration assistant offers and where particular attention is required. This test run showed that no major obstacles were to be expected during the actual migration.
Detailed migration planning
The migration was prepared in the form of a concrete project plan. In particular, it was specified which work needed to be carried out manually and which tasks could be left to the automatic migration assistant. This plan was then worked through step by step in a structured manner.
A scalable, compliance-compliant solution
After the successful migration of the existing systems with their data, VR Payment can access a smoothly scalable, data protection-compliant cloud solution that the customer’s teams quickly got to grips with. Particularly exciting are the numerous new features in the cloud and the straightforward centralized user administration.
