    With the end of support for Atlassian Server, the GEODATA Group faced a short-term decision. The existing Server instance was replaced by Jira Service Management Cloud. Collabri, now part of Seibert Solutions, accompanied the migration with consulting, training and technical implementation.

    The GEODATA Group successfully made the move from Jira Service Management Server to the Atlassian Cloud with the support of Seibert Solutions. Today around 500 users use the cloud solutions to efficiently map service processes, improve collaboration and advance projects more quickly.

    Atlassian Cloud at GEODATA: efficient and secure


    Companies have different requirements for their IT systems and work processes. Before moving to the cloud, it must therefore be carefully examined whether these requirements can also be met in a new operating model.

    For the GEODATA Group, the focus was particularly on how security, acceptance and efficient collaboration could be guaranteed long-term. In joint workshops and analyses with Seibert Solutions, these questions were addressed and the foundation for a future-proof Atlassian environment was created.

    High security standards

    Atlassian Access enables single sign-on, two-factor authentication and centralized user management.

    Structured cloud migration

    Jira Service Management Server was successfully migrated to the cloud, including relevant extensions.

    IT administration is simpler, projects are completed faster and productivity increases.

    What were the special considerations during the migration of GEODATA’s systems – and what is the result?

    How the cloud migration went

    Consulting and analysis

    Our partnership with GEODATA began with a first workshop in which all concerns and challenges were discussed.

    Test migration

    We created a plan for the cloud migration that included a detailed analysis of the extensions to be migrated. The plan was to replace the Server instances of Jira Service Management with Jira Service Management in the cloud and synchronize the external user directories via Atlassian Access. Atlassian Access provides advanced security and governance features for Atlassian cloud products across corporate domains, including methods such as single sign-on and two-factor authentication.

    Detailed migration planning

    For a migration project of this scale, user acceptance and good communication are crucial:

    “We manage around 500 Atlassian users and several dozen admins. We worked closely with all departments involved and also discussed potential cybersecurity issues before starting the user acceptance tests (UAT). The migration went as planned and was a great success. Only with Timesheets was there one small additional task: the missing Tempo accounts were added via script.”

    A scalable, compliance-compliant solution

    The migration to the Atlassian Cloud brought clear benefits for GEODATA and added business value: simpler IT administration promotes faster project completion, and the additional freedom and flexibility in pre-production phases increases productivity.
